She received a BA cum laude in European languages from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2000. In 2003, she obtained a diploma in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the Universitat de Barcelona. She has also completed a course on the general history of Spain at the Estudios Hispánicos of the same university and attended a French language course at the Alliance Française de Toulouse et Midi-Pyrenees. Aside from Barcelona and Toulouse, she has also lived in Valencia and Palma de Mallorca where she worked as an English language assistant for three academic years. In 2018, she received a master's degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3.
