Vargas Museum joins the world in celebrating 2016 International Museum Day by holding a nine-day museum training for children. This year, JMG highlights the museum as a place of interaction among many kinds of cultures and peoples. The theme for 2016 as set by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) is “Museum and Cultural Landscapes.”
The workshop will be held for two weeks from Tuesday to Saturday, 1 to 5 pm. The lessons that the junior museum guides will learn are basic museum practices: docenting inside galleries, documenting and handling of museum objects, and planning of an exhibition. Hands-on art activities for this year are the following: Drawing and Comics-Making by Manix Abrera, Printmaking by Angelo Magno and Mars Bugaoan and Paper Art by Dexter Sy and LJ Ablola. A graduation cum exhibition opening will culminate the JMG activities on the tenth day. The 11th edition of JMG is supported by Friuli Trattoria.
